The expedition commenced on March 3 at Pune in Maharashtra and will culminate on March 11 at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, an Army press release said.
The two hot air balloons with three crew members each are scheduled to cover a distance of 1,140 km by traversing over Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, it said.
This is the second expedition undertaken by the Army Aero Nodal Centre (hot air ballooning), situated at Jammu & Kashmir Rifles regimental centre in Jabalpur.
The expedition was conceptualised with an aim to promote adventurous spirit of Indian Army and generating awareness among the country's youth about adventure activities in general and hot air ballooning in particular.
Maj Gen Marwal complimented the ballooning team and the crew for the successful expedition.
