Arunachal Pradesh government on Thursday sought feedbacks from the state karatekas, who won 16 medals in the recent Commonwealth Karate Championships in South Africa, for incorporating in the state sports policy.

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Dr Mohesh Chai said these karatekas would be awarded by the state government.

"The governments require feedbacks from the karatekas and the Arunachal Karate Association to be incorporated in the new sports policy," Chai said.

The minister also felicitated the 13-member Arunachal karateka team for winning 16 medals among India's kitty of 59 in the Durban championship from November 29 to December 2.

The team returned here on late Wednesday evening and, along with officials of the Arunachal Karate Association, called on the minister in his chamber, on Thursday.

"I feel proud not only as the sports minister but as an Arunachalee for our talented children. The deserve special credit. I congratulate you all on behalf of the state people, state government and Chief Minister Pema Khandu and on my behalf," the sports minister said.

Chai expressed hope that these players would be able to bring laurels for the country and the state from the next Asian Games and the Olympics.
