Arya Samaj played a significant role in India's independence:

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said that 'Arya Samaj' had played a significant role in our country getting independence and also in the promotion of Indian culture.
Besides, it had helped India achieve the status of 'Jagat Guru' again in the field of education, Khattar asserted.
He urged all educational institutions being run by the Arya Samaj to adopt government schools so as to provide quality education to children and raise the level of government schools.
The Chief Minister was speaking in a State Level Arya Yuva Mahsammelan organized here.
Khattar said that youth of Arya Samaj are established as a social power of the state and the country.

"This power should play significant role in promotion of the society," he said, according to an official release.

Khattar also said that patriotism is above everything and we should work by rising above personal interests.
"Organizations like Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have been doing this work efficiently," he said, adding that the foundation of this organization was laid in 1925.
"Like the Arya Samaj, the RSS also debates on Yoga, patriotism and current issues of the country," the Chief Minister said and recalled that "I was fortunate to join RSS in 1977."
On the initiatives of the BJP Government in Haryana, he said that government is always making efforts for promoting programmes pertaining to cleanliness, de-addiction, character building, besides running campaigns pertaining to female foeticide, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and cow protection.

He urged that youth should also come forward to support the government in such initiatives.
On the occasion, Khattar also paid floral tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar and said he had devoted his entire life for the welfare of poor.
The Chief Minister said youths from 574 districts of the
country had reached Kurukshetra, showcasing one Shloka each scripted on their traditional dresses.
The sand brought by them from their respective districts would be utilised for making an idol of Lord Krishna to symbolise unity and integrity of the country, he added.
Various great personalities, including thinkers, writers and philosophers has not only adopted the ideals of the Gita in their lives but also inspired others to do so.

Quality management institutes of the world like Howard Business School and Kellog School of Business have included various aspects of Shrimad Bhagwad Gita in their curriculum.
The Chief Minister said that the great battle of Mahabharta, had been fought 5,000 years ago on the land where lord Krishna had delivered the celestial message of Bhagwad Gita to Arjuna which continues to be a source of inspiration for humanity even today.
Khattar said that the Saraswati Heritage Development Board has prepared a scheme to develop tourist and pilgrimage spots of 93 villages in three districts of the State.
These included 45 villages of district Yamunanagar, 21 of district Kaithal and 27 of Kurukshetra.

The Chief Minister was speaking after viewing the model of Saraswati Project prepared by the Board, during International Gita Mahotsav-2016 at Purshottampura Bagh here.
He said that under the scheme of the Board, ponds would be constructed near cremation grounds on the banks of Saraswati River for immersion of the ashes.
These ponds would be named as 'Saraswati Ghats'.
Besides, about 100 drains would be closed to keep the river water clean.
Apart from this, the 204-km main channel from Adibadri to village Aandhali of district Kaithal at Punjab border, and then 150-km 'Saraswati Dharas' would be developed, he added.
