ASI killing case: NRI remanded in judicial custody

UK-based NRI Tavinder Singh who was arrested in connection with murder of ASI Gurdev Singh, was today remanded in 14-day judicial custody.
He was produced by police in the court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Mohit Bansal who sent him to judicial custody.
Tavinder Singh alias Tally was earlier on a six-day police remand which was extended by the court by five days.
Tally, a native of village Tut Kalan and one of the four main accused in the ASI murder case, was arrested by Phagwara police on April 3 from Jahangir Mallian village on Kapurthala-Nakodar road.
He had sustained multiple fractures in his left leg after he had jumped from the roof of his hideout in a vain attempt to escape.
Another accused Pushpinder Singh alias Noni Lahoria of Rama Mandi had been arrested by Jalandhar police.
Two more accused Palwinder Singh alias Pinda of village Nihaluwal, Lohian in Jalandhar district and Rajinder Singh alias Mintu of village Wadaliwala in Fatehgarh Sahib district were still at large.
ASI Gurdev Singh (50) was shot dead on the night of March 31 near Haveli on Jalandhar-Delhi National highway when he had confronted and chased one of the four miscreants who was suspected of taking drug inside the cabin of a washroom of a roadside eatery.
