A local court today asked police to produce before it the UK-based NRI, who is among the two main accused arrested by police in connection with the March 31 murder of an ASI near Haveli on the Delhi-Jalandhar national highway.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohit Bansal directed the local police to produce Tavinder Singh alias Tally, a UK-based NRI of village Tut Kalan, before it on April 6.
Tally is among the two accused arrested by police yesterday in connection with the murder of ASI Gurdev Singh.
Police sources said Tally sustained multiple fractures on his left leg after he had jumped from the roof of his hideout at Jahangir Mallian village last evening, and could not be produced in the court as he was still under medical observation at Civil hospital.
The judge came to the hospital himself this evening to see the condition of Tally and consequently postponed his appearance till April 6, sources said.
25-year-old Tally had returned from the UK on March 10. He, along with other main accused in the ASI murder case, was also wanted in an assault on an orchestra operator at Kharar on March 15.
The other accused Pushpinder Singh alias Noni Lahoria of Rama Mandi was arrested by police yesterday.
Two other accused in the case, Palwinder Singh alias Pinda and Rajinder Singh alias Mintu are yet to be arrested.
Gurdev Singh (50) was on traffic patrol duty when he confronted a person who was allegedly taking drugs inside a hotel and was shot dead while chasing him on March 31.
