Asrani has been given his due: Kangana on 'Simran' credit row

Actor Kangana Ranaut today said the allegation by writer Apurva Asrani that she tried to discredit his work on her latest film "Simran" was in a "bad taste."
Asrani had alleged that Kangana, who has been credited as 'additional dialogue and story writer' in "Simran", tried to discredit his work in public by saying that she developed the story with director Hansal Mehta from a one-line script.
The 30-year-old actor said it has been made to look like Asrani was not given his due, which was false.
"There is a lot of misconception regarding this. I would like to clarify, there are no dues pending. It has been made to look like he hasn't been given his due, whereas we have done exactly what he asked for," Kangana told reporters.

"He suggested I take additional dialogue credits, all the documents and contracts were signed too. Post that we also worked for a schedule together," she added.
The "Queen" star said things took a turn when her last release "Rangoon" bombed and people started attacking her, including Asrani.

"After many months, he decided to write this note, just when 'Rangoon' flopped and two-three people attacked me, which I thought was in a very bad state, was planned and extremely deliberate.
"If there is anything we can do in the matter we would love to, but there is nothing we can do. We have given him credits too. This is where we stand today," she said.

Kangana said she decided to turn additional dialogue writer with the film as the character demanded it.
"In such roles, in a more organic way we can construct lines which are more character friendly. In that aspect, I told Hansal sir that I'll write my own lines just to have a fluid feel," she said.
"Simran" is scheduled to release on September 15.
