"The Speaker has granted extension of two months for presentation of report of the House Committee to examine the cause of alarming increase in deaths of patients in SKIMS, Srinagar and SMGS hospital (Paediatrics), Jammu," an official spokesman said today.

He said the committee has been directed to suggest measures for preventing such deaths.

The high death rate in the hospitals came into focus earlier this year following a public outcry against high infant mortality rate in the Valley's only children's hospital.
