A former syndicate member, who had written to the Tamil Nadu Governor along with Vijayakumar, co-convenor of Save MKU, told reporters that the VC should pay the fees, totalling Rs 18 lakh from her own funds as the cases relates to an individual and not from the University's funds.
The Save MKU coalition is an association of present and former staff members
While one case relates to quashing FIR against the VC,the Registrar and others in Madras High court Bench here, the other relates to a pending civil appeal in the Supreme Court.
Vijayakumar said if the payments were made from University funds, it would amount to travesty of justice.
University officials, however, refused to comment on the objections raised by the associations.
