"AAP and Congress did nothing for people in unauthorised colonies. BJP is the only party which decided to regularise these colonies in Delhi," BJP Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Goel said at a rally at Ramlila Grounds here ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.
According to Delhi BJP, there are more than 60 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies across the national capital and they play a vital role in deciding the electoral fate of a political party.
Taking on Congress, MP Meenakshi Lekhi said BJP had undertaken works, like regularisation of unauthorised colonies, in the past six months which had not been accomplished in the last 30 years.
Lekhi also said that as BJP is not enjoy a majority in Rajya Sabha, the Modi government is facing a lot of difficulties in getting any Bills passed in Parliament.
South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri said it was the efforts of Modi which had brought about the ordinance of December 29 regularising 895 unauthorised colonies that had come up till June 1, 2014.
"We were able to get the unauthorised colonies cleared with the efforts of Modi-ji. Congress and AAP were only doing politics on the issue," Bidhuri said.
Meanwhile, reacting to comments by former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikhsit that Congress support to AAP cannot be ruled out in case of a hung verdict in the upcoming Assembly elections, Union minister Harsh Vardhan said the party has already accepted defeat even before the polls.
Slamming AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal for the posters bearing his and senior BJP leader Jagdish Mukhi's photos, which have been put on autorickshaws, North-East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari dared the former to do the same.
"If he (Kejriwal) has guts, he should put posters bearing my photos with him on autorickshaws," said Tiwari.
