Two GRP personnel have been sent to Police Lines in connection with the death of national-level fencing champion Hoshiyar Singh, who was allegedly pushed off a moving train in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh last week.
"To ensure a fair inquiry into the incident, both the constables have been sent to Police Lines. The probe is now complete and the report has been sent to the government," SP (Railways) G N Khanna said today, adding that the report cannot be made public now as it is confidential.
Based on the demand of Singh's family members, an FIR was lodged against the two Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, who were accused of "pushing" him off the running train.
The incident took place on Wednesday when 27-year-old Singh was travelling with his mother, wife and their 10-month-old child in Kasganj-Mathura passenger train.
Singh's family members alleged that when Singh went to the women's coach to meet his ailing wife, GRP personnel stopped him and asked for Rs 200. When he refused to pay, he was thrown off the train by police personnel, they alleged.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Olympic Association Anand Keshar Pandey, who has demanded a CBI probe into the incident, said he was not satisfied with the action taken against the two constables. "Nothing less than a CBI enquiry would bring out the truth," he said.
