A retired Subedar of Indian Army, allegedly working as an ISI agent, has been nabbed by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) from Jhansi district, police said here today.
"The ATS team has nabbed Indra Singh Kushwaha, native of Banda district from Sadar Bazar crossing last night," IG (Law and Order) Amrendra Singh Sengar told reporters here.
"They have also recovered two compact discs (CD) containing important information from his house following interrogation," he said, adding the CD has war plans of Indian Army, contact numbers of military officers and those involved in development of 'Arjun' tank.
Sengar said that Kushwaha came in contact with ISI agents in 2011 during his posting in Siliguri (West Bengal).
"ATS got a tip off that ISI was getting information through his agent in Jhansi. During investigation, it was revealed that the person was the retired Subedar Kushwaha, who used to send information from a internet cafe in Sadar Bazar area of Jhansi," he said.
According to Sengar, Kushwaha told ATS that he had work as assistants to army officers and was aware of a number of secret informations, which he used to pass on to ISI for money.
The IG said that ISI had allegedly transferred money in his bank accounts and to prevent any doubt the amount did not exceed Rs 50,000.
Kushwaha was in contact with ISI for past two months and used to communicate with them through internet.
"The ATS is suspecting that Kushwaha had a number of bank accounts, detailed inquiry of which is underway," the IG said.
