Sources in state-run power firm MSEDCL said unless the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) pays the pending Rs 25- crore bill, electricity supply to street lights would not be restored.
Aurangabad, the most important city in Marathwada region of the State, has been included in the Centre's Smart City project.
The move by MSEDCL has caused hardship to the local residents and leaders have expressed anger.
The party said the AMC and MSEDCL should settle the dispute over dues or else it will launch an agitation.
