Prohibitory orders which were imposed in some areas of the capital city on February 2 after mob violence would be lifted from certain areas from tomorrow, official sources said today.
In view of the necessity to enable citizens to carry on with their normal chores including economic activities, movement of children to schools, etc, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Kohima Rajesh Soundararajan has ordered that prohibitory order be lifted from PHQ Junction area of the city from 6 am tomorrow, the sources said.
The District Magistrate, however, maintained that prohibitory order in other areas of the city will continue until further order.
Soundararajan had imposed prohibitory order on February 2 restricting movement of more than five persons in group and had barred people from carrying arms at Old Minister's Hill, PHQ Junction, Jail Colony and Raj Bhawan area after a mob vandalised State Election Commission office and set on fire many government department buildings.
