Australian Police today issued a fresh appeal to the public seeking information over the mysterious disappearance of an Indian-origin man in 2014.
Shiva Chauhan, then a 27-year-old delivery boy, began his delivery route on the evening of May 1, 2014and was last sighted at a bakery on South Park Road, Dandenong South around 12.30 AM (local time) next day, detectives have been told.
Concerns were raised later that morning when it was discovered that his deliveries were not made and he had failed to turn up to an arranged meeting the same afternoon. His locked van was later traced in Hutton Road, Keysborough where his wallet, identification and personal items were found inside the van.
Police said investigators still held grave concerns for Chauhan, who went missing two years ago.
"Missing Persons Squad detectives are today appealing for information on the two year anniversary of the suspicious disappearance of delivery man Shiva Chauhan," Victoria state police said in a statement.
Investigators believe that a stolen Toyota Camry sedan was involved in Chauhan's disappearance and that the vehicle was not yet been recovered. Detectives said theybelieved that Chauhan might have been taken to Phillip Island in the early hours of May 2, 2014.
After receiving this information, police searched Flynn's Beach last year but failed to locate anything relating to the investigation.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Rhodes said, "Today marks two years since Chauhan's disappearance. We are treating this as suspicious and believe someone out there knows where he is. We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and contact police".
Police have released pictures of Chauhan in a bid to trace him.
