"Government is entering into an agreement with the WHO to popularise Ayurveda across the world. The goal of achieving healthy population is to be met through AYUSH health care system," Naik said.
The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare was speaking during the foundation stone laying ceremony for the hospital block of Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Metabolic Disorders (RARIMD) in Bengaluru.
The foundation stone for the hospital was laid by Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu along with Naik.
"Ayurveda is one of the oldest medical systems of the world," he said.
RARIMD, a subsidiary of Central Council for Research in Ayurveda Sciences, aims at becoming pioneer in Ayurveda dietetic (concerned with diet and nutrition) research and evolving centre for excellence in Ayurvedic clinical research.
"Government of India is extending all possible support for the progress of the institute," Naidu said.
