Meanwhile, copper sheet cuttings and lead eased owing to subdued demand from consumer industries.
The industrial metal, zinc and aluminium spurted in early trade at the LME as investors bought metals amid supply constraints and a brighter global growth outlook.
Nickel rallied by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 1,240 from Monday's closing level Rs 1,230 and zinc firmed up by Rs 6 per kg to Rs 193 from Rs 187.
Copper cable scrap and copper wire bar rose by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 495 and Rs 523 as against Rs 491 and 519 previously.
Brass sheet cuttings moved up by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 354 from Rs 351 and brass utensils scrap by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 337 from Rs 335.
Copper armiture and copper utensils scrap also inched up by Re 1 per kg to Rs 470 and Rs 448, respectively.
However, copper sheet cuttings declined by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 463 from overnight close of Rs 467 and lead softend by Re 1 per kg to Rs 143.
