With Supreme Court order on January 22, clearly stating that BCCI will have to hold its AGM-cum-elections within six weeks, the working committee had to decide on a date by February 12.
The meeting also assumes a lot of significance as the members will get an idea about the future of sidelined president N Srinivasan, who has been clearly told by the Supreme Court that he won't be able to stand for presidential elections unless he completely dissociates himself with the India Cements owned IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings.
Some of the key allies like Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Assam Cricket Association (ACA), Delhi and Districts Cricket Association will be present at the dinner.
"Not every member of the working committee has been invited for this dinner diplomacy. For example, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) led by Sharad Pawar, which is known to be in the anti-Srinivasan camp, has not been invited for this meeting unlike Cricket Association of Bengal president Jagmohan Dalmiya, who harbours ambition to become a president," the source said.
It is also learnt that Srinivasan will intimate the members about Chennai Super Kings (CSK) being transferred to a new subsidiary.
Yesterday, in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), India Cements said it has completed the required documentation for transfer of CSK franchise to Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited.
