Beef row at Kerala House: AAP demands sacking of Bassi

AAP today demanded sacking of Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi alleging that he misguided people on police entering Kerala House to investigate a complaint about beef being served in its canteen.
"It was an illegal raid and then the Delhi Police Commissioner has the cheek to misguide people and to cite a law which is not relevant," AAP leader Ashutosh told reporters at Kerala House.
"The Delhi Police Commissioner who misguided the nation and media has no business to continue in his post, either he should resign or he should be sacked," he said.
AAP leaders Ashutosh, Somnath Bharti, incharge of Kerala unit of party, and Raghav Chadha visited Kerala House and adressed a press conference outside its premises.

Asked about the Delhi government's role in verifying whether beef was served at Kerala House, Ashutosh said "the Delhi government will act when there will be information that something illegal is taking place. We believe nothing illegal or unlawful is taking place here."
"What is illegal is cow meat...To spread a rumour and to say that beef is cow meat is a part of the grand design by the BJP government and its ideological friends and Aam Admi Party very strongly condemns it," the AAP leader said.

Saying that people are "deeply anguished" over police entering Kerala House, he also demanded action against cops who took part in the "criminal trespass" and arrest of the person who approached police claiming beef was being served in its canteen.

Party leader Raghav Chadha said "Delhi Agricultural Cattle Preservation Act says in such matters the competent authority to investigate, search premises or seize is Director Animal Husbandry of Delhi Government's Health department."
Citing recent incidents including the Dadri lynching, attack on rationalist Dr M M Kalburgi and beating of an MLA in Jammu Kashmir Assembly, Ashutosh said "AAP will not sit silently on this issue because the politics of hate is being spread in the country which has led to these incidents."
"Subsequent to the illegal raid on Kerala House, people back home are enraged. Kerala unit of AAP will launch a protest if the PM, Home Minister and Delhi Police Commissioner fail to seek apology over the issue," said Somnath Bharti.
