Written and directed by Douglas McGrath of 'Emma' fame, the film is inspired by true events, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Radcliffe is set to play a brilliant but inexperienced civil engineer Washington Roebling who oversaw the building of the Brooklyn Bridge in the second half of the 19th century, based on a design by his father John A Roebling.
The 'Gandhi' actor will play Roebling Sr, while Brie Larson will play Emily Roebling, the wife of Radcliffe's character.
