Bengal industries plan energy conservation

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed an agreement with public sector firm Energy Efficiency Services Ltd for lighting infrastructure and energy conservation projects.
Chamber's president Kallol Datta said after undertaking energy audit it was found 48,000 kwh of energy can be saved annually.
"We had signed an agreement with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to revamp our lighting infrastructure that will help drastic reduction in energy consumption," he said.
EESL, promoted by power PSUs, will execute the project with a contract period of three years.
"We will deploy energy saving lighting technology. The project capex will be invested by us and the playback will be a part of saving in energy bill achieve," EESL Managing Director Saurabh Kumar said.
With the agreement, BCCI's investment in executing this project is nil.
EESL has undertaken similar project for the Planning Commission building in the state.
Kumar said for any building, energy conservation projects will be under contract period between three and five years.
