"We have got freedom after a long struggle and we need to preserve it...Now we have to get freedom from social evils like corruption, terrorism, untouchability and so on," Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said.
Stressing that the the event (Bharat Parv) ended on a "successful note", he said the government also plans to organise such programme in the future on Independence and Republic Days.
Tourism Secretary Vinod Zutshi said about 8-10 lakh people participated in the festival, which started on August 12.
"This purpose by and large has been achieved. It has rejuvenated cultural nationalism among the people. It also aims to create social awareness among the people for fighting social evils," he said
He also appreciated the programme "Azadi se Azadi Tak-Ek Buland Naara (Quit India 2)" in which over 300 artists from Maharashtra participated, capturing important incidents in the independence struggle.
It ended with a message that people should work towards getting independence from various evils.
The festival showcased India's cultural diversity with various folk and tribal dance performances from different states and UTs.
