Uttarakhand BJP chief Ajay Bhatt today refuted reports accusing him of not spending money out of his MLA area development fund, saying he has already sent development proposals worth Rs 1.25 crore for his area but they hit a roadblock at the district level due to the "slothfulness" of officials.
"I have already sent proposals worth Rs 1.25 crore to the Chief Development Officer concerned but estimates on my proposals are not being issued due to the slothfulness ofthe officials concerned. In the absence of estimates funds are not being released," he said.
Replying to reports in a section of the press suggesting that he was not spending his funds on the purposes they were meant for, Bhatt accused Chief Minister Harish Rawat's "inert bureaucracy" of sleeping over his proposals
Alleging that the Chief Minister had lost all control over his bureaucrats, Bhatt said proposals sent by him had hit the roadblock at the district level as officials concerned were only dragging their feet over them.
Bhatt represents Ranikhet constituency in the state Assembly.
