Bihar utilised 70.62 per cent of the total Rs 705 crore funds given by the Centre till November. The IAP projects are being implemented in 11 worst Naxal-hit districts in Bihar, official sources said.
Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had recently written to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar about Bihar's alleged failure in controlling Naxal activities, saying the situation in the state has become alarming.
Of the remaining states, Andhra Pradesh utilised 71.30 per cent of the total Rs 540 crore given by the Centre, while Chhattisgarh used 71.71 per cent of Rs 990 crore, Jharkhand 74.72 per cent of total Rs 1,540 crore and Madhya Pradesh spent 77.48 per cent of the centrally-released fund of Rs 830 crore.
Last week, in a letter to Kumar, Shinde expressed concern over deteriorating situation in Bihar due to Maoist activities.
"We have noticed a complete breakdown in coordination between the state police and the central forces as well as with the neighbouring states like Jharkhand," he wrote.
Requesting to revisit the Bihar government's strategy's of fighting the Naxals, the Home Minister told the Bihar Chief Minister that situation in the state has become alarming and if it is not addressed immediately, there is a possibility that the Left wing extremism situation may go completely out of control in the near future.
The nature of major works or projects taken up by the districts under the IAP include construction of schools, anganwadi centres, drinking water facilities, rural roads, panchayat bhawans, community halls, health centres, among others.
