Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today asked state owned natural gas distributor GAIL India to start supply of LP gas through pipeline in the households of the state capital by the end of October.

The supply of LP gas through pipeline will get rid of the problem of refilling cylinders and it is also eco-friendly, Modi told reporters here.

"The supply of LP gas through pipeline should also be started in cities like Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur which have been included in Smart City project. The GAIL India would start supply of LP gas via pipeline in the households of the state capital by the end of October this year," he said.

Modi was addressing a function organised by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board to conduct 9th round of bidding process to supply piped LP gas in six cities of the state.

Out of the proposed 490 km length of gas pipeline in the state, 410 km has already been laid, he said adding that the GAIL was awarded the work to lay gas pipeline in Patna in April.

The tendering process to lay pipeline to supply LP gas in six districts of Aurangabad, Kaimur, Rohtas, Begusarai, Gaya and Nalanda will be completed by July 10, he added.

The state government will bring an amendment in the building by-laws to permit multi-storied buildings to have the facility of laying gas pipeline at the construction level itself, the deputy chief minister said.

Stating that Patna will get a CNG station soon, he said the state government may consider reducing registration fee in order to promote the use of CNG run vehicles in Bihar.
