Dharampur Bande village, about 30 km from Samastipur town, has a population of 12,500 but no bank previously.
The Dharampur branch of Bihar Gramin Bank, a leading regional rural bank sponsored by UCO Bank, was inaugurated by Chairman of the Bank, Arvind Singh Shekhawat.
The bank came up following sustained efforts of Bihar Foundation (Mumbai Chapter).
"I am extremely thankful to Bihar Chief Minister Mr Nitish Kumar and senior state officials for their valuable support in facilitating Bihar Foundation's Mumbai Chapter to offer financial inclusion services of Bihar Gramin Bank in Village Dharampur Bande," Capt Nalin Pandey, Joint Secretary, Bihar Foundation (Mumbai Chapter), said.
Bihar Gramin Bank has so far penetrated across 9 districts of state.
