All India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF) chief M S Bitta, who survived the 1993 Delhi blast, today demanded a probe into the shifting of Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, who is serving a life term for the attack, from Tihar prison to an Amritsar jail.
"There must be an inquiry into it. Bhullar's lawyers have lied about his mental health in the Supreme Court. He is alright and meeting people there, some of them even allegedly involved in terror cases. Bhullar must be brought back to Tihar prison immediately," Bitta told PTI.
Bitta also expressed reservations at his security cover being downgraded, saying he was a victim of 'political terrorism'.
"I have been a victim of political terrorism. I have fought terrorism all over my life. But I am compelled to say that there are parties conspiring against me. It is because of political terrorism that my security has been downgraded to 'Z' from 'Z+'," Bitta said.
Bhullar, who was shifted to a prison in Amritsar on Friday, was awarded the death penalty for triggering the bomb blast in which nine persons were killed and 25 others injured, including Bitta.
The Supreme Court had last year had commuted his death sentence to life term on the ground of delay in deciding his mercy plea and his medical condition.
Bitta, the then Youth Congress president, also criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for helping in the transfer of Bhullar to Amritsar prison.
"Kejriwal calls himself a nationalist. But why has he agreed on transfer of Bhullar. Why did he write a letter for his transfer?," Bitta asked.
Bitta said he is working on a book 'Political Terrorism', which will give details of political parties' will to fight terrorism and steps taken by them, expected to be released in next six months.
