SP Bhaskar Mukherjee said the West Bengal Power Development Corporation Ltd personnel were putting up two uprooted poles to restore power supply in the area which was disrupted two days back.
Suddenly a group of BJP supporters arrived and stopped them.
BJP workers blocked the nearby road as soon as police reached the and stopped them from preventing WBPDCL staff from performing their duties, the SP said.
Seven BJP supporters were arrested from the spot, and two of them were women, the officer said.
Two persons had been killed in a clash over setting up of a power sub-station at Bhangar in South 24 Parganas district in January last week.
