"The role of the local MLA, Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo (former minister of state (MoS) for Home into the communal violence be probed by an independent agency that is CBI," party's state unit chief Jugal Kishore said in a memorandum submitted to Union Home Secretary Anil Gowsami.
Kitchloo had resigned on August 12 from the state cabinet, saying that "he didn't want to cast a shadow on an independent probe."
The BJP delegation led by Kishore, which met Goswami, also demanded full compensation for losses incurred by minority community traders in Kishtwar in the communal clashes which rocked the town on Eid.
In the clashes, three persons were killed, over 20 others injured and 75 business establishments and 35 vehicles damaged in arson.
