National president of Kisan Morcha Omprakash Dhankar said that the commission has recommended to the Union Ministry of Agriculture not to increase the MSP of wheat which, he said, was totally impractical and anti-farmer.
"MSP of wheat as per the formula of Swaminathan Committee should be Rs 2100 per quintal," Dhankar told reporters here.
"The cost of wheat production has increased to 1400 per quintal but the commission's claim about the input cost of wheat is low as compared to that. The commission is of the view that the MSP should not be increased," he said.
He said that after de-control, rates of fertilizers have increased many times which subsequently has also hiked the input cost.
He also demanded roll back of hike in the prices of fertilizers.
