BJP lowering dignity of Assembly house, alleges Virbhadra

After the proceedings in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly was marred by ruckus for the third straight day today, Chief Minister Virbharda Singh accused the Opposition BJP of lowering the dignity of the house by using "abusive and intemperate" language.
The House was adjourned as the government and the Opposition members clashed over the state's "deteriorating" law and order situation.
Talking to mediapersons after the adjournment, Singh said the house was meant for discussions and the members should refrain from creating ruckus in the House.
"The House is meant for discussions and members can express themselves in decent language, but raising slogans or creating ruckus in the House does not behove the elected representatives," said Singh.

BJP members cited the gangrape and murder of a schoolgirl in Kotkhai last month to claim the government's "soft attitude" towards criminals had emboldened them.
Singh dismissed the suggestions, claiming his government had acted promptly in every case.
"The government acted promptly in Gudia gangrape and murder case and the case was referred to the CBI at my behest. In the case of mysterious death of forest guard Hoshiar Singh, the High Court has directed the police not to file the challan," he said.
"It is wrong to say that the law and order situation has deteriorated in the state but the opposition is trying to mislead the people," he said, adding that the crime rate in the state was much lower than other states.
