BJP not keen on alliance in Odisha for LS polls: Mitra

BJP is not keen on entering into an alliance with any party in Odisha in the coming general elections, senior party leader Chandan Mitra said today even as he ruled out tie-up with its erstwhile partner BJD.
"As of now the party has no alliance with any political party in the state for the coming elections nor is it keen to enter into an alliance," Mitra, the BJP's Odisha in-charge, said when asked about a possible re-alliance with the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) headed by Naveen Patnaik.
BJD had snapped its nine-year-old electoral tie with BJP prior to the 2009 general elections and Patnaik had dubbed the former alliance partner as a communal party.

Mitra, however, added, "Nothing can be predicted in politics. Both the state and central leadership will decide whether there is a need for track with any party in future."
Addressing a two-day special session here, the BJP leader asked the party's rank and file to work towards a 'Congress-free India'.
"The Congress has ruined the country with rampant corruption. Now, the Shah Commission has nailed the BJD government for its involvement in the multi-crore mining scam. Now, the time has come to put Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the dock," he said.

Stating that the BJP cadre needs to utilize the time properly and encash on the public anger to dethrone the UPA at the Centre, Mitra claimed that the Narendra Modi wave across the country was growing stronger.

He asked the party leaders to work hard to oust Naveen Patnaik and reach the goal of 272 plus Lok Sabha seats.
Mitra said as the BJP did not have alliance with anyone in the state, it has been preparing to contest on its own strength.
The BJP leaders discussed on the strategy for the 2014 elections and how to make Modi's scheduled visit February 11 a success, party sources said.
