The meeting this evening was attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and also saw participation by RSS join general secretary Krishna Gopal.
Party leaders from Assam were also present at the meeting, which lasted for a few hours.
Sources said that the leaders discussed the Assam Assembly elections scheduled for next year and the party strategy for the same besides the political ramifications of delinking Assam from the land boundary Bill, which is to be moved in Parliament this week.
The opposition is against the delinking of Assam and wants it covered by the new law.
BJP sources said that Assam had been left out in view of the land boundary agreement becoming an emotive issue in the state.
BJP leaders termed the meeting a routine affair and said it was convened for coordination purposes.
