BJP's draft manifesto sets 3-yr deadline for coastal road

While Shiv Sena in its 'Vachan Nama' for city civic polls has promised to construct the Nariman Point-Dahisar coastal road after securing necessary permissions, BJP, in its draft manifesto, has set a three year deadline for the completion of the project.
Notably, the urban development department of the state, which would be chief agency granting permissions, is with BJP.
As the talks between two ruling alliance partners for next month's BMC polls are yet inconclusive, Sena came out with its manifesto yesterday, while BJP''s manifesto is yet unpublished.
The draft BJP manifesto also mentions the controversial decision of replacing halogen street lights with Light Emitting Diode (LED) street lights.

Sena had in 2015 vehemently opposed the BJP's bid to install LED bulbs on the Queens' Necklace promenade (Marine Drive) in south Mumbai, on the ground that the quality of light was poor.
A senior BJP leader speaking on the condition of anonymity said the party's manifesto was ready but its publication had been kept on hold pending the alliance talks.

The draft manifesto of BJP also includes the promise to launch a Mobile app for women for locating nearest public convenience (ladies toilet) apart from the promise to construct some 5,000 toilet blocks in the city.
Another promise is grant of deemed occupation certificate if a building has not got it for more than 15 years after construction, a BJP source said.

There are about 2,000 such buildings in Mumbai which currently have to pay more than the regular taxes.
Other points likely to find mention in the BJP manifesto include the implementation of the stalled Station Area Traffic Improvement System (SATIS) around the suburban railway stations to ease traffic congestion.
