Commenting on President Pranab Mukherjee's address to a joint sitting of Parliament, he said, "In India we are used to a situation where political election campaign becomes rhetoric only and does not really shows the commitment. Today, what is proved is that what (Narendra) Modiji talked, he wants to walk."
The Environment Minister said the government was trying to engage the nation on the issues, on which it wants to govern, adding the address focused on governance, economic revival and empowerment of the disadvantaged groups.
On a question related to reservation of seats for women in Parliament, Javadekar said that if Congress stands by its earlier position, there would be no problem in bringing about the law.
Responding to further queries about the commitment in passing the bill for women's reservation, he said that it is a commitment being expressed by the government.
In response to a question of China, Javadekar said that the visiting Chinese foreign minister and Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj had a three hour meeting.
Speaking further, Javadekar, who also holds Parliamentary Affairs and Information and Broadcasting portfolios, said in the last Parliament, there were 36 parties.
In this parliament there are several parties which have one or two members.
"But out belief is 'sabka saath, sabka vikas' (everyone's support, everyone's development) and Parliament will work on new ideals," he added.
