Forecasting changes in the political arena in Tamil Nadu well ahead of next year's Assembly polls, BJP today said that the party-led front would get strengthened with the addition of "new colours", hinting at new parties joining the NDA.
"Things will dramatically change and soon you will see new colours are added and new strength will come to NDA in Tamil Nadu," BJP National Secretary P Muralidhar Rao told reporters here as he forecast changes in the political arena.
The senior BJP leader, however, did not elaborate on it.
"BJP wants to lead an alternative front and it exists in the form of NDA," he said when asked about NDA's standing in Tamil Nadu as partners like PMK and MDMK had quit his party- led combine.
Replying to a question to political alliance for polls, he said, "The question does not arise whether we are going to go with AIADMK or DMK, our party is for alternative politics and good governance and we are against corruption."
On exit of parties from NDA in Tamil Nadu, he said "NDA will not wither away" and added "we do not criticise or endorse PMK's announcement of its chief ministerial candidate and such things do not change the basic (political) dynamics".
Declaring Anbumani Ramadoss to be its chief ministerial candidate, PMK had said that its ties with NDA was only at the national level and not in the state.
Earlier in the day, a brainstorming session of state BJP functionaries was held here at the party headquarters 'Kamalalayam' to finalise the campaign for the Assembly polls next year.
Union Ministers Pon Radhakrishnan, Bangaru Dattatreya and state-unit chief Tamilisai Soundararajan participated in the discussions.
On today's meet, Rao said his party would focus on all the 234 Assembly constituencies and undertake intense mobilisation of cadres.
Answering a question on the Cauvery issue, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would like to see the chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka come up with positive and proactive steps for resolving the issue keeping aside narrow political interests.
