Uttar Pradesh minister Mohsin Raza today said that people of Amethi constituency will vote for the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as the Congress had done nothing for the development of the region.
This is clear as people turned up in large numbers for the October 10 rally of BJP chief Amit Shah and Union minister Smriti Irani in Amethi, despite it not being a poll campaign, the Uttar Pradesh Muslim Waqf and Haj minister claimed.
"This points to the fact that voters have already made up their mind to say 'khuda haafiz' (goodbye) to (Congress vice- president and Amethi MP) Rahul Gandhi," Raza told PTI today.
Gandhi had secured 4,08,651 votes against Irani's 3,00,748, in the 2014 general elections to win the Amethi parliamentary seat.
"Amethi has been a stronghold of the Congress and that of the Gandhi family for decades. They should have done something for the development of the region. In the coming elections, the people of Amethi will definitely vote for the BJP," he said.
People have already made up their mind to vote for the BJP and are waiting for the 2019 elections, said Raza, who is also the in-charge minister for Amethi district.
