Bold black, somber white rule at 2016 Golden Globe red carpet

From veteran Cate Blanchett to young star Amy Schumer, Hollywood divas rocked the 2016 Golden Globe in hues of white and black while leading ladies like Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Winslet opted for vibrant red and blue.
The best actress nominee, Blanchett, went for an unusual white-pink and fringed Givenchy gown. Wearing her blonde locks swept to one side, the mother-of-four sported a dramatic smokey-eye and nude lipstick for the occasion.
She added a drop earring and glittering bracelet to her look, allowing her show-stopping dress to command full attention.
"Trainwreck" actress Schumer wore an off-shoulder monochrome dress (with pockets), by designer Prabal Gurung. The comedienne wore her blonde hair pinned back in a half-updo. Her gown featured black side panels, white bodice, and long black train.
"Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke looked beautiful in a black gown, while "The Danish Girl" actress Alicia Vikander went for a white Louis Vuitton dress.
Eva Longoria also opted for white, looking every inch a fashion diva in a Georges Hobeika dress.
Also cutting a pretty picture was Laverne Cox in a white Elizabeth Kennedy gown, with her green Lorraine Schwartz earrings enhancing her look.
Singer-actress Lady Gaga, known for her out of the box dressing sense, surprised with a regular off-shoulder all-black velvet gown, by Atelier Versace.
"Veep" actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus looked beautiful in a black gown.
Other prominent colours on the red carpet were dark shades of blue, red and yellow.
Best Supporting actress Kate Winslet stunned in a blue Ralph Lauren gown, while best actress in a comedy or musical winner Lawrence glowed in a red floor-length column style Dior number, with two side cutouts. She completed her look with a silver linked necklace.
Pop star Katy Perry wore a pink evening gown by Prada. Julianne Moore Wearing a velvet blue Tom Ford dress. Rooney Mara sported a shredded-lace Alexander McQueen dress.
Pop diva Jennifer Lopez opted for a yellow Giambattista Valli gown. "Room" actress Brie Larson wore a golden Calvin Klein dress.
Melissa McCarthy was seen in a blingy blue gown. Taraji P Henson looked gorgeous in a white Stella McCartney dress and Natalie Dormer turned heads in a red J Mendel dress.
Hollywood star Johnny Depp's model wife went for a red flowing gown. Emmy-winner Viola Davis wore a blue Marchesa dress.
