Actress Divya Dutta, who starred in the Pamela Rooks' directed adaptation of 'Train to Pakistan', said his demise was the end of an era.
"RIP Khushwant Singh! End of an era! Fond memories of 'Train to Pakistan' and the bond I shared with him! Will miss you!"
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur posted, "An Institution says adieu. His final joke upon us. RIP Khushwant Singh."

Actor-comedian Vir Das urged his fans to read the author's books.
"We lost a national treasure in every sense of the word today. Go out and get a Khushwant Singh book. It just might change your life," he wrote.
