Three suspected bovine smugglers were arrested and 35 animals rescued as police Tuesday claimed to have foiled three bovine smuggling attempts in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Two trucks illegally transporting 14 animals towards Kashmir were intercepted at Nagrota in the outskirts of Jammu, a police official said.
He said both the drivers were arrested and a case under relevant sections was registered against them.
Police rescued 11 more bovine animals from another suspected smuggler in the Mahore area of Reasi district, the official said, adding the accused was arrested and a case registered against him.
In a separate incident, a truck illegally transporting 10 bovine animals was intercepted in Samba district and the animals rescued, he said.
However, the driver managed to escape and efforts are on to arrest him, the official said.
