In yet another case of corporal punishment, the eardrum of a 12-year-old boy was ruptured after his school teacher beat him up for not having a proper haircut, his father alleged today.
In his complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police, the boy's father Naveen Kumar claimed that the incident took place at his son's school in Lohia Nagar here on July 21.
Kumar alleged that a woman physical training instructor had beaten his son Harsh for not getting a proper haircut because of which his ear drum got ruptured.
"I complained about the matter to the principal of the school but she did not take any action. I then gave a written complaint to the Sihani Gate Police to initiate legal action against the teacher," Kumar claimed.
"However, this lead to more humiliation of Harsh and my two other sons in the school by their teachers. Many a times their notebooks were torn by the teachers," he alleged.
During a parent-teachers' meet on August 30, the school authorities took away the mobile phone of one of my sons.
Kumar said he approached the SSP today and asked him to initiate appropriate legal action as the school management was threatening to implicate them in frivolous cases.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ran Vijay Singh said, "We are verifying the veracity of allegations levelled in the complaint. Appropriate legal action will be initiated against the school management and the physical training instructor in case the allegations are found correct."
Several calls made to school authorities to verify the facts of the case went unanswered.
In a shocking incident, a class IX student had lost vision in one eye after being allegedly beaten by a teacher in a government-aided inter-college here on August 21.
The teacher was booked under Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the IPC and was sent to jail today.
