According to Sahibabad SHO Upendra Yadav, the incident occurred in the Shalimar Garden colony at around 4 P.M. When Shweta Pandey and her 4-year-old son Saraswat were alone at home while her husband Shrikant Pandey had gone to his shop.
A courier boy pressed their doorbell in the evening and, when Shweta opened the door, she was handed an envelope and given a receipt to sign.
As she went inside the house to get a pen, the boy got out a pistol and pointed it at her. Though terrified, Shweta managed to act quickly to catch hold of the boy and snatch his pistol.
"We are investigating the case and have launched a manhunt on the basis of her description of the intruder," the SHO said, adding that Shweta was still in a state of shock following the attempted robbery.
Police, meanwhile, said that a youth from the Shahid Nagar area has been detained for interrogation in connection with the case.
