Ashok Kumar was shot from a close range by two motor-cycle borne youths last night, they said.
Kumar, who suffered five bullet wounds, was rushed to a private hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
According to police, the victim had received ransom calls from an extortionist.
A case on charge of murder has been registered against the unidentified assailants, they said.
Annoyed over the issue, traders blocked G T Road for few hours and demanded the immediate arrest of the assailants. The traders claimed that several brick kiln owners and traders had been killed by extortionists in Dadri area.
