Greenwood will appear in the upcoming dramatisation of the 'Murder Trial of the Century' as Los Angeles district attorney Gil Garcetti, reported Deadline.
Greenwood, 58, most recently worked on the small screen in a recurring role during the final season of "Mad Men".
The FX series from "Glee" producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk and written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski will examine the events surrounding OJ Simpson's 1995 acquittal for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
Cuba Gooding Jr has the lead role in "American Crime Story" as the NFL great, while Simpson's defence team will be played by John Travolta, Courtney B Vance, David Schwimmer and Evan Handler.
"American Crime Story" is set to premiere next year on FX.
