Manoj Kumar succumbed to his injuries at Guru Tegh Bahadur hospital in the city yesterday, where the errant driver had admitted him before escaping.
Kumar had earlier given his statement to the police.
According to the police, Kumar was returning home on his motorcycle on May 16 when the speeding car allegedly hit him from behind, throwing him to the ground.
As per the police, the car was going so fast that Kumar was dragged for some distance before it came to a halt. The driver put Kumar in his vehicle, drove him to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, admitted him in the emergency ward, and fled from the hospital before police arrived.
He later succumbed to his injuries the same evening and his body was sent for post mortem.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered against the unidentified driver.
Police is scanning the CCTV footage of the hospital and the crime scene to identify the driver.
The doctors and other hospital staff too are also being spoken to in a bid to obtain any information about the accused, who is still at large, police said.
Kumar lived with his family in Khajoori Khas area and worked with BSES in Karkardooma. His brother is posted with Delhi Police as a constable.
