: Public sector telecom operator BSNL will roll out 4G services in select districts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh before August this year and launch them in all districts of both states by year end, a senior official said here today.

"4G services will be launched before August this year in a few districts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on a pilot basis and expanded to all districts in both states by December 2018," BSNL Telangana Telecom Circle Chief General Manager V Sundar told reporters here.

However, the roll out of 4G services will be delayed in Hyderabad in view of the requirement of more number of 4G towers and the services will most likely be started in the city by March 2019, he said.

As part of mobile network expansion plan for this fiscal, new 4G services will be deployed in select towns and cities of Telangana Telecom Circle, besides expansion of existing 3G and 2G networks at a cost of about Rs 123 crore, Sundar said.

"A total of 409 (4G Towers) will be installed in various districts as part of the project to extend higher data speeds of 4G services to customers of BSNL.

A pilot project for 4G for testing shall be launched in Jadcherla town of Mahabubnagar district and Wyra town in Khammam district before August this year.

Thereafter,4G services shall be launched in all districts of Telangana by the end of this year (December 2018),"he said.

Over 500 4G Towers will be installed in Andhra Pradesh, BSNL officials said.

A total of 64 new 2G and 3G sites have been planned along the Hyderabad Metro Rail corridor for providing seamless 3G services to the customers, they said.

The combined AP Circle (covering Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) has achieved revenue of Rs 2,115 crore for 2017-18 financial year, though there is reduction of revenue by around 15 per cent when compared to the previous fiscal, they said adding "We hope to increase revenue by 5 per cent in 2018-19 fiscal".
