India A coach Lalchand Rajput today said the side's comprehensive win against West Indies would boost the confidence of his bowlers.
West Indies were bowled out for a paltry 148 runs while India A chased down the target in 25.3 overs.
"It was a good thing that we could get them all out very early. Especially, the spinners bowled really well. (Amit) Mishra, Karn (Sharma) and Parveez (Rasool). Overall, if you see, a national team getting out early, it will give a lot confidence to the bowlers and the team as well," Rajput said at the post-match conference.
Rajput however warned that the visitors would bounce back well during their games against the national side starting from October 8.
"When you play an international game, it would be totally different. Their four players are not there as well (Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo and Dwayne Smith). This was a very good opportunity for them to have practice when the ball was turning. But a lot of players have been playing in IPL and they know the conditions well, so they really will bounce back well," the former Mumbai opener added.
West Indies have another practice game against the same opponents on Sunday, which will be played under lights at the Wankhede Stadium.
Youngster Unmukt Chand, who impressed with the bat with his unbeaten 81-ball 79, today said he tried to leave the balls outside the off-stump, a plan which worked for him against the West Indies team.
"Last couple of series, last year I got out many times playing back-foot punches. Last year against West Indies A, I got out playing a backfoot punch initially. So I was very careful on that aspect of leaving the balls that was pitching outside off stump," former India U-19 captain said.
"The first spell is always important because they have the pace and bounce. So one needs to see off that spell. It becomes easy for a batsman once he is set and play your shots. I have been working on that and really happy that it has been working for me," Chand said.
