Unlike other superheros we know of, Burka Avenger will use books and pens against bad guys trying to shut the girls' school where she works.
While she is a gentle, compassionate school teacher by day, she fights school-hating baddies at night.
Burka Avenger is an action-comedy animated TV series that follows the adventures of the superhero and three young kids in the imaginary city of Halwapur as they fight the evil Baba Bandook and his henchmen.
He took her under his wing and taught her the art of Takht Kabaddi, a new style of fighting where books and pens are primarily used as weapons in conjunction with karate moves.
To the locals, she is known simply as the demure school teacher but whenever evil is afoot, she takes on her alter identity, Burka Avenger, and uses Takht Kabaddi to defeat her enemies.
When not garbed as her alter ego, Jiya does not wear a burka or even a headscarf. Even in her burka, she looks more like a ninja fighter.
The animated series is the brain child of Pakistani pop singer Aaron Haroon Rashid, who earlier set out to develop an iPhone game app with the same name last year.
The video clips from the animated series have gone viral on social media even before any official promotional work has been done by Unicorn Black, Rashid's production house.
