Business leaders should have analytical abilities: Vinod Gupta

Top industrialist Vinod Gupta today said business leaders need to have strong analytical abilities and "knowledge of engineering can provide that foundation".
"Most business schools take students without any analytical background. The students end up lagging behind others when they start their business careers," Gupta said at the silver jubilee celebration of his institute - Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur.
IIT Kgp Director P P Chakrabarti said the premier institution would look forward to contributing to India's economic growth through technology-enabled management education.
"The management school will be working with other institutions and departments at IIT-Kgp in areas of quality control, medical science and technology and manufacturing," he said.

Unlike other management schools, VGSoM has aligned its academic programmes and research with the IIT system, Chakraborti added.
