Telangana Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy today launched 'Cashless Enforcement in Traffic Management'.
Under the initiative, police will discontinue the practice of collecting cash for traffic 'challans' (a receipt for payment) on the spot. Instead, the violators will be asked to pay penalties online and through other moden modes.
"Technology not only works as a force enhancer but also gives satisfaction to people that whatever is being done is being done in a transparent manner.
"Hyderabad Traffic Police is also utilising technology to enforce rules and improve safety of road users. The introduction of cashless enforcement is first-of-its-kind scheme in India," Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma said.
