Castor seed prices went up by Rs 45 to Rs 4,682 per quintal in futures trade today after participants raised holdings, following positive physical markets cues.
Marketmen said investors created fresh positions, spurred by low stocks due to the pause in supplies from growing regions, fuelled by strong demand for paint, soap and lubricant industries in the spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castor seed delivery for the October contract rose by Rs 45 or 0.97 per cent, to Rs 4,682 per quintal with an open interest of 6,480 lots.
The delivery of the most traded September contract also gained by Rs 36, or 0.78 per cent, to Rs 4,629 per quintal having business turnover of 1,45,950 lots.
